Deal signed with Chinese-Korean consortium

State-owned Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) has initiated a move to enhance the transmission capacity of the high-tension Chandpur-Comilla 132 kV transmission line, reports UNB.
To this regard, the company yesterday signed a contract with a Chinese-Korean consortium to award the contract of the job under which CCCE-Etern-Hanbeak JV will re-conduct the entire 60 km transmission line within the next 18 months.
PGCB officials said once the work is completed, it will double the transmission lines capacity.
Side by side, the PGCB also undertook a project to install a 6-km 132 kV underground transmission line from Modunaghat to Kalurghat in Chittagong. The CCCE-Etern-Hanbeak consortium obtained this contract as well.
The PGCB will execute two works at a cost of Tk 90 crore and the finance is coming from the government, Asian Development Bank and from PGCBs own fund.
PGCB officials said the scheme is being implemented under its 400/230/132 kV Grid Network Development project.
PGCB company secretary Ashraf Hossain and chief representative of CCCE-Etern-Hanbeak Hua Jie signed the contract on behalf of their respective sides.
PGCB managing director Masum Al Beruni, executive director (PD) Chowdhury Alamgir Hossain and other top officials of the two companies were present at the contract signing ceremony that took place at the PGFCB office.
