Malaysian university keen to ink MoU with BAUET
NATORE: University Putra Malaysia (UPM) expressed keenness to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology (BAUET) to enhance bilateral cooperation in academic activities.
UPM Chemistry Professor Mansur Bin Ahmed expressed the keenness when he made a courtesy call on BAUET Vice-Chancellor Brig Gen AHM Shahidullah (Retd) on BAUET permanent campus at Qadirabad Cantonment here, said a press release.
Through the MoU, the two universities will exchange cooperation mainly in higher education, researches and training of teachers, the release added.
BAUET Treasurer Lt Col GM Azizur Rahman, Additional Registrar Dr Md Musharraf Hossain and Head of Civil Engineering Department Head Dr Md Rashidul Hasan were present at the meeting, among others.
National workshop on biology held at IU
KUSHTIA: A two-day national workshop on 'Bioinformatics and Computational Biology' was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia.
Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering (BGE) Department and Statistics Department of the university jointly organised the national workshop in collaboration with Bangladesh Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Association (BBCBA) and Bioinformatics Research Group of Rajshahi University (BioRGRU).
The workshop was held at the hall room of 2nd science building of the campus with the financial support of Higher Educational Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) of RU Statistics Department.
IU Vice Chancellor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the workshop as the chief guest while IU Applied Science Faculty Dean Prof M Shamsul Alam and RU Statistics Department Prof Md Nurul Hoque Mollah, among others, were present as special guests.
Professor of IU Statistics Department Dr M Kamal Uddin presided over the workshop where chairman of BGE Department Dr Nilufa Akhter Banu addressed the welcome speech. Teachers and students of the departments participated at the workshop.
World Health Day observed at DIU
The Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University (DIU) observed the World Health Day 2017 through elaborate programme including rally and seminar, says a press release.
To mark the day Department of Public Health brought out a procession from Daffodil Tower on Mirpur Road and paraded main streets of Dhanmondi areas with different banners and festoons to spread out the awareness on WHO nominated global theme of the day ‘Depression: Let's Talk’ on Friday.
A seminar on the theme ‘Depression: Let's Talk’ of World Health Day – 2017 was held at DIU Auditorium71 on Saturday. Dr Ahmed Al-Kabir, president of Research, Training and Management (RTM) International & Ex-chairman of Rupali Bank Limited was the Chief Guest.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of DIU Prof Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder presided over the seminar while Prof Shah Mohammad Keramat Ali was the keynote speaker.
The seminar was also addressed by Dr Md Shahjahan, head and Dr Salamat Khandker, Associate Professor of Department of Public Health of the university and Dr Jahidur Rashid Sumon, Managing Director of Center for Medical Ultra Sound and Doppler (CMUD).
