A traditional boat race was held in the Boiran River at Goplapur in Tangail on Friday. Youth Club of Gopalpur arranged the popular boat race. Abul Kalam, an organizer, said about 150 boats known as ‘kosha’, ‘dingi’ and ‘shep’ were used in the race. Gopalpur Pourasabha group became champion, while Zamuria group of Ghatail upazila was runners up and Nutur Char team secured the third position. Younus Islam Talukder, chairman of Goplapur upazila parisad distributed refrigerator, colour TVs as prizes to the winners as chief guest.
