9 killed in separate road accidents

Nine people were killed in separate road accidents in three districts yesterday morning, report agencies.In Mymensingh: Five young men were killed and 12 people injured in separate road accidents in Phulpur and Bhaluka upazilas yesterday morning.In Phulpur upazila, three young men were killed and two others injured in a collision between a bus and a pick-up van at Bhaitkandi in the morning.
Ali Ahmed Mollah, officer-in-charge of Phulpur Police Station, said the bus collided with the van early in the morning, leaving Hridoy, 25, Shahid, 30, Idris, 35, dead on the spot and two others injured.
He said the injured were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
In Bhaluka upazila, two young men were killed and 10 passengers injured as a bus overturned on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Hazirbazar around 8am.
The bus turned turtle on the highway as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two passengers Ripon, 22, and Rasel, 25, dead on the spot and 10 others injured, said Mamun-Or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station.The injured were taken to the hospital.In Faridpur: Three bus passengers were killed and eight others injured in a collision between two buses on Dhaka-Magura highway at Nowapara in Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur district yesterday morning.Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge of Madhukhali Police Station, said the collision between a bus of 'Sohag Paribahan' and another of 'Royal Paribahan' took place around 9am, leaving Ayon, a passenger, dead on the spot and 10 others injured.The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where two unidentified men succumbed to their injuries, the OC added.
