A suspected criminal was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups of the alleged criminals in Kholadanga area of Jessore early yesterday, reports UNB.
Based on secret information police conducted a drive in the area around 3:45am and recovered the bullet-hit body of Rajib, 29, son of Mohor Ali, said AKM Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
The law enforcers also recovered a revolver, one bullet, five bombs, two machetes and a sharp weapon, from the scene.
Victim’s mother Aklima Khatun alleged that plainclothes police picked Rajib up from the area on April 3.
But Rajib, an accused in 10 cases, including that of murder, escaped from the police custody on April 5 and he was found dead early yesterday, the OC said.
Jessore General Hospital’s Dr Kallol Kumar Saha said the man had died before he was brought there.
