Hasina won’t ink any secret deal with India: Quader

Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would not ink any secret deal with India during her current four-day visit. “Whatever agreements will be inked with India are for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh. There will be no secret deal with India,” he said while addressing the Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad conference in the capital.
Referring to a statement of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir over the premier’s current visit to India, AL general secretary said no agreements with India will remain secret in the era of information technology. “Sometimes, Fakhrul Islam throws stone in the dark. I would like to tell him that he should wait and see before making any statement about whether the Sheikh Hasina government inks any anti-state agreement with its neighboring country,” Quader said. About agreement on sharing Teesta river water, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said all unresolved issues including Teesta will be resolved gradually through the existing bilateral friendship between the two nations. Pointing finger at BNP, the AL leader said, “Bangladeshi people would not get anything from its neighboring country if we show negative attitude towards India. Our demands should be realised through discussions.”
