8 Bangladeshis return home from Indian jail

Eight Bangladeshi nationals returned home from India on Friday after languishing in a jail there for one and a half years, reports UNB.
Indian Petrapole Immigration Police handed them over to the Bangladeshi authorities through Benapole check post in the afternoon.
The returnees were identified as Habibur Rahman, 15, son of Shamsul Haque of Fatullah in Narayanganj; Krishna Khan, 14, son of Harish Khan of Kalibazar in Narsingdi district; Reajul Sheikh, 14, son of Faruk Hossain of Morelganj in Bagerhat district; Sabuj Sujon, 13, son of Mohonpur upazila in Rajshahi district; Reba Rani, 25, Usha Rani, 23, Sujata Sarkar, 23, of Satkhira district and Hawa Begum, 35 of Khulna district.
Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Benapole Immigration Police, said all the eight had gone to India illegally in search of jobs one and a half year back.
Indian police arrested them from Kolkata railway station and sent them to jail.
After the served one and a half years jail term there, Legal Aids and Training Centre, a legal service provider, got them freed from the jail and took them to a shelter home.
Later, a decision was taken to return them following joint intervention of the home ministries of the two countries.The victims were handed over to the members of Bangladesh Women Lawyers Association.
