Due to its ongoing renovation works, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS), dubbed as Bangladesh’s ‘Home of Cricket’ could not feature the next bilateral home series against Pakistan.

The series between Bangladesh and Pakistan is scheduled to kickstart in July as per future tour’s programme (FTP), just after the conclusion of the Champions Trophy.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and its ground committee chairman Hanif Bhuiyan along with BUET experts visited Mirpur to monitor the renovation work at stadium yesterday.
He was flanked by BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan and other BCB grounds officials at this time.
Hanif Bhuiyan held a meeting with BUET experts, who have been appointed for the finish the work smoothly as soon as possible. Then they all bodily started monitoring in ground.
BCB ground committee chairman said that they came here to expedite the work so that they could finish it within the timeframe of June-July.
“As per the prescription of Australian consultant, who prepared a prescription for us following his visit in Dhaka, we have started our repairing work which is going on. Later we have involved the local experts from BUET in this work. Now the development is going on. Along with that, our regular monitoring is also going on,” said Hanif Bhuiyan after the end of the field observation.
“Our national team meanwhile went to tour in Australia-New Zealand, India and Sri Lanka. They will again tour in Ireland and England in this month for a long time. We have to try to finish the work within this period,” Bhuiyan told reporters.
“The work is going on at snail’s pace but it will get back some pace from the next day. There is a matter of grass which was not in our reserve. We have tried to manage it from Kolkata along with other places. For this, it has been some delay,” he added.
When asked if there is any possibility to hold any match in July, the chairman said no series is possible before July.
“Our target is to finish the repairing work at stadium within July. Contractors started the work with less number of manpower. Then they increased the number manpowers to  75  from Friday. Hopefully it will be finished within our timeframe. It will not possible to host any series before the Champions Trophy. It’s possible after July,” he thought.
He also said that they could stage match within short period after finishing the repairing work at Stadium.
“Water of the downpours could not pass properly through the drainage due to the fractured of the pipe. We’ve completely changed the pipes. After the rains, when we could have started a match within 30-40 minutes, we will now begin a match comparatively less time than the past,” he said, adding “The first layer of the stadium has been harder. For this, the filing could not soak waters quickly. We have given new sands removing the old ones. The novelty will of course come. The grass has been faded away in some areas of the ground.”
