ABT member arrested
Detectives in a drive arrested a suspected member of the banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from the capitals Jatrabari area on Friday night.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said a team of detective branch (DB) of police conducted the drive at night and arrested Maulana Md Maksudur Rahman alias Abdullah, an ABT sharia board member.
Saudi team meets JS Speaker
Visiting Vice President of two holy mosques in Mokkah and Madina Dr Mohammad Bin Nasser Bin Mohammad Al Khuzaim and Imam and Preacher of the Prophets Mosque Abdulmehsin bin Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Qasim called on Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the capital on Friday.
During the meeting, they discussed religious sentiment of Bangladeshis, Bangladeshi workers role in Saudi Arabia, Hajj management and bilateral relations between the two countries, said a press release. The speaker thanked the two top religious figures of Saudi Arabia for visiting in Bangladesh and Jatiya Sangsad as well. She expressed her gratitude to the Saudi government for cooperating Bangladeshi pilgrims during the hajj period and requested it to allow more number of pilgrims.
Training course begins
A month-long sewing training course for women began at Amshu village under Tanore upazila of the district on Thursday in order to make them self-reliant through income-generating activities. Association for Community Development (ACD) arranged the course with financial support of Palli Karma Sohayak Foundation (PKSF). Twenty-five poor and underprivileged women are taking part in the course. The initiative has been taken for boosting skilled human resources and income of marginalised and vulnerable families of the Barind tract.
