The terrorists, with their twisted creed of hate and bigotry, detest freedoms, the lifestyles and the open, tolerant cultures and are hell bent on destroying them

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Swedish people in a terrible and dark time for them. Stockholm has been a peaceful place for long and Sweden–along with other Scandinavian countries–has been striving hard to create a society where discrimination based on ethnicity and religion has become almost a thing of the past. So when religious extremists, who are scum of the earth–attack innocent people in such countries we are saddened even more.
These type of attacks using truck to crush through passersby seems to the new modus operandi of the so-called jihadists. Just last month in an attack claimed by the Islamic State group, a man drove into a crowd on London's Westminster Bridge, killing three people and injuring many others before stabbing a policeman to death. The IS group also claimed responsibility for a truck attack that killed 86 people in Nice, France, in July 2016 during a Bastille Day festival, as well as another truck attack that killed 12 people at a Christmas market in Berlin.
Bangladesh too has been victim on vicious terror attacks in the past and the people here can understand the pain and anguish of the family and friends of the victims of the Swedish tragedy. Bangladesh and indeed nations across the globe share Sweden’s grief and outrage. 
We believe that terrorists of any hue should be met with firm resolve and no mercy quarters should be shown to perpetrators of attacks which target innocent unarmed victims. Those who act is such a dastardly and cowardly fashion only understand the application of ruthless force. The Islamic State–which has claimed responsibility for most of the attacks–is no longer a regional threat. It has evolved into a serious international terror threat.
Having said that the latest attacks prove it is hardly possible to completely protect cities from suicidal assaults of this kind. The IS terrorists, with their twisted creed of hate and bigotry, detest freedoms, the lifestyles and the open, tolerant cultures and are hell bent on destroying them. 
Leaders and policymakers across the globe must take an uncompromising stance against narrow loyalties across sectarian lines — sentiments that provide fertile recruiting ground for those seeking a fast path to earthly or heavenly rewards.  The authorities everywhere must do everything to hinder terrorists' capacity to plan and organise, and to bring these terrorists to justice. To achieve these goals, strengthening national capabilities, regional and international cooperation and information exchange is essential.
