Bangladesh cricket team returned home from Colombo yesterday morning after successfully ending their month-long tour of Sri Lanka, in where they drew all the three series of Test, ODI and T20 against the high-ranked Islanders. The players were greeted with bouquets and sweetmeats by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors and officials inside the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Barring Shakib Al Hasan, all the players including Mustafizur Rahman came back.
Shakib went straight in India from Colombo to join Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
Cutter-master Mustafiz though comes with the team will fly for India within the next one or two days to join the Sunrisers Hyderabad fortress.
BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon, who also came back with the team from Sri Lanka, after a while appeared in the press briefing with Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe and Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim.
Mashrafe, whose abrupt retirement from Twenty20 rocked the country, got the first flash of the media though he was the epic of the discussion.
When he was asked to evaluate the tour, Mashrafe said that the overall performance of the team has been better but it would be better more if they could win the one-day series by 2-0.
“In this tour, I think, if there is any unfulfilled place then I will say that we should have won the one day series. Overall, we have done such performance in Sri Lanka for the first time,” said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
“Despite being lagged behind in Test, we have drawn the series 1-1. In ODI, we should have won 2-0. In Test, their recent performance in Australia and South Africa was good. Most of the players were in T20 series. But we came from behind to win the last match and drew the series 1-1,” Mortaza told media. “In total, it has been a better tour for us. Hopefully we could continue it in days to come,” he added.
