Abdulmehsin bin Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Qasim, the Imam and Khatib of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque), in Medina, Saudi Arabia, has called upon the Muslim Ummah to get united against militancy. While delivering sermon for Juma prayer at Bangladesh’s national mosque Baitul Mukarram yesterday, he described Islam as a religion of peace and the highest form of the blessings of the Almighty.
The visiting Imam, who conducted the Juma prayer at the national mosque, said the bond of Islam boosted the ties between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
After the prayer, he conducted munajat, seeking unity of the Muslim world and peace and prosperity.
Meanwhile, thousands of Muslim devotees from different parts of the city and adjacent areas offered the Juma prayer conducted by the visiting Imam at Baitul Mukarram mosque.
Muslim devotees started gathering at the eight-storeyed national mosque from 11am. It was packed to the capacity when the prayer started at 1:30pm.
The devotees were also found offering Juma prayers on the streets at the north, south and east gates of the mosque.
Security was beefed up during the prayers.
After the prayers, the Imam spent some time at the Islamic Foundation, where eminent ulema and government officials, including industries minister Amir Hossain Amu and the foundation’s director-general Shameem Afzal, exchanged greetings.
The vice-president of the two holy mosques in Mekkah and Medina, Dr Mohammad Bin Nasser Bin Mohammad Al Khuzaim, among others, accompanied him.
