Academicians and parliamentarians yesterday called upon the world leaders to raise their voices for nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament to ensure nuclear weapon free world, reports BSS. They came up with the remark at an international seminar on ‘Nuclear Weapon-Free World’ organiSed by Dhaka University and Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (PNND) at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of DU.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique presided over the seminar while Chief Coordinator of PNND Alan Ayer, Mainuddin Khan Badal, MP (Bangladesh), Matt Robson, MP, (New Zealand).
Quoting the speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the United Nations General Assembly on September 25, 1974, Professor Arefin said "We must stop nuclear arms race to ensure peace, stability and food safety for all mankind".
