BNP yesterday urged the government to immediately stand beside the flashflood victims in the country's different areas with proper support and emergency supplies, reports UNB. In a statement, party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir voiced concern as the people of Sunamganj, Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Mymensingh and haor areas are passing hard days due to the flashflood caused by the onrush of water from Indian hills.
He said huge crops and cropland have been damaged in the areas by the sudden flood, causing untold sufferings to the affected people.
"It's very unfortunate that the government is yet to stand beside the flood-hit people. We call upon the government to provide the flood victims with immediate necessary support, and continue it until their harvest is over," Fakhrul said. He also urged all the leaders and activists of BNP, its associate bodies and alliance partners to come forward in aid of the flood victims to ease their sufferings.
The BNP leader hoped that the flood victims will overcome the crisis and loses by facing the natural disaster with courage and fortitude as they did in the past. He conveyed his profound sympathy to the flood-affected people.
