Meeting on natl tobacco control policy
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim on Monday called for collective efforts of all concerned to make the country tobacco free by 2040.
The government alone cannot make the country tobacco free. Collective efforts of all stakeholders, including ministries, are must to this end, he told a roundtable at a hotel in the capital.
The daily Samakal and PROGGA arranged the meeting on National Tobacco Control Policy and Health Development Surcharge Management Policy with Samakal editor Golam Sarwar in the chair.
Economist Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, National Professor Brig (retd) Abdul Malik, journalist Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, representatives of anti-tobacco organisations and senior journalists of different print and electronics media took part in the discussion.
Samakal executive editor Mustafiz Shafi conducted the function.
Certificate giving session held
Senior bankers asked their newly recruited subordinates to show their professional skills during discharging duties as it is essential for attaining success in the banking sector for overall socio economic development of the region.
They urged them to make their banking activities client- friendly so that they get total benefits of the banking service.They were addressing the closing and certificate-giving session of a six- week foundation training course for 43 newly recruited senior officers and officers of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) at its training institute in Rajshahi on Tuesday.
