Barisal ready to welcome Bangla New Year

Different organisations in the city has taken elaborate programme to bid farewell current year and welcome Bangla New Year. 

Preparations for ‘Chaitro Sangkranti’ and ‘Pahela Baishakh’ with various colorful programmes and enthusiasm for bidding farewell and welcoming Bangla New Year 1424 on April 13 and 14,2017 are going on in full swing in the city. 
Barisal district administration this year first time officially took preparation to observe Bangla New Year and chalked out day long programme to celebrate the day. District administration took the theme of the programme as 'Clean City Barisal”. They also announced prize in six categories over cleanliness. DC Barisal Dr Md. Gazi Saifuzaman said they formed a seven-member committee to find out clean ward, educational institutions, Govt. offices, houses, health centers and hospitals within April 13. 
Volunteers of Charukala Barisal Barisal unit, Barisal University, district administration, Group Theater Sabdaboli and Udichi are working day and night to organize the traditional Provati Onusthan,  ‘Rakhi Bandhan (friendship ties) ceremony and ‘Mongol Shobhajatra. They are passing busy times in making motifs of Bangali folk and daily life on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh festivals. Kheyali Group Theatre arranged ‘Sangskritik Adda’ with cultural show on their office premises to bid farewell and welcome Bangla Year from April 13 evening to April 14 early hours. 
Three-day long ‘Baishakh Utsav’ with ‘Baishakhi Mela’ (Bangla New Year’s fair) and cultural functions also will be arranged by the Udichi at B M School ground from Pahela Baishakh. Shabdaboli Group Theatre at Barisal central Shahid Minar, Chander Hut at Barisal T B Clinic field, Planet World Children Park on park premises and local businessmen at Hatkhola also  arranged Choitra Sangkranti Utsavs, Baishakhi Mela, and cultural programmes in the city from  April 14-16. Local administration and law enforcing agencies arranged special measures for safety and security of the people said Dr Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman.
