Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested three members of an international kidnappers’ gang from Fakirhat upazila on Monday for their alleged involvement in the abduction of 10 Bangladeshis in Malaysia.
The arrestees are Ahsan Habib Khan, 43, Ruhul Amin Khan, 42, and Imrul Islam alias Titu, 26, a Bkash agent. They hail from different villages of Kolaroa upazila of Satkhira district.
Briefing at RAB’s Khulna office, commanding officer of the RAB-6 Khandaker Rafiqul Islam said the kidnappers’ gang members abducted 10 Bangladeshis from near Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia on February 8 last, confined them in a room and collected over Tk 24 lakh from their families over mobile phone as ransom.Later, they released the eight victims but the two others were not freed as their families did not pay the ransoms, said the RAB official.Following a complaint filed by Azgar Sardar, father of victim Imran Sardar, an intelligence team of Rab-6 in a drive arrested the three members of the gang from Katakhali and Nawapara bus stand in the morning by tracking the mobile number of bKash agent Titu, said Rafiqul Islam.
