Stocks maintain uptrend with higher transactions

Stocks maintained upward trend yesterday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found finishing with upward trends with higher transactions of some large-cap securities, reports BSS.
Financial institutions, banks, insurance and textile were among the rising major sectors. A total of 136 securities of the large-cap group moved up due to higher activities.
The border DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange closed the day with 37.78 points up at 5777.12. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 4.03 points up at 1324.05 and with 27.68 points up at 2143.66. The day's trade value at DSE increased to Tk 983.16 crore from Monday's Tk 938.29 crore and the daily trade also rose to 24.37 crore shares from 23.18 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day's 328 securities, prices of 161 securities closed higher against 119 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Fareast Finance, City Bank, Brac Bank, Style Craft and Eastern Insurance. The major losing issues were PRIME1ICBA, GSP Finance.
City Bank topped the turnover list followed by Lanka Bangla Finance, Beximco Pharma, Brac Bank and ACME Lab.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 117.48 points up at 17,911.99.
At CSE, issues traded 252 while 119 closed higher against 103 closed lower when 2.08 crore shares worth Tk 86.49 crore changed hands.
