CHITTAGONG: Seven dwelling houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Khoigram village under Patiya upazila of the district yesterday noon,
reports BSS.
Fire Service and Civil Defence sources said the fire originated from a Gas Oven around 11.45 am and quickly engulfed the surrounding houses.
Two firefighting vehicles rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 1.40 pm with the help of locals, station officer of Agrabad Fire Service Humayon Kabir said, adding that properties worth about Taka 10 lakh were burnt.
Meanwhile, members of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) detained two activists of Islami Chhatri Sangstha (ICS) while distributing anti-state and anti Boishakhi leaflets from a Madrasa under Bakalia thana yesterday. The ICS activists were Umme Habiba and Rahanuma Rouno, both are the students of Chittagong college.
