PM stresses on unified support from Arab world

UNB

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said it will be easier to advance the peace process in Palestine if the entire Arab world lends its support together, reports UNB. "The advancement of peace process will be easier with the united support of the entire Arab world," she said.
The Prime Minister made the statement when Palestine’s former Prime Minister Vice Azzam NM Alahmad met her at her official residence Ganobhaban.
PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting. He said the Prime Minister told Azzam that the people of Bangladesh always hold a special place in their hearts for Palestine and its people.
She also mentioned that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman always supported Palestine and its people.
The Prime Minister recalled the visit of late Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat in 1997 when Awami League was in the power. "I used to call him (Yasir Arafat) uncle," she said.
Azzam expressed deep respect to Bangabandhu and said he was the symbol of international leader.
"He established brotherhood between the two countries," he said.
He also conveyed the greetings of Palestinian President Mahmood Abbas to the Prime Minister, and briefly discussed the current peace process in his country.
Azzam highly appreciated the Prime Minister for developing Bangladesh tremendously within a short time. "Bangladesh has changed completely," he said.
Terming the relations between Bangladesh and Palestine as historical, Azzam Alahmad expressed his gratitude to Bangladesh for the continuous support to his country.
