The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) new edition is approaching nearer but some clubs kept players ‘unpaid’ of their last year’s DPL payment.
A crop of players from Victoria Sporting Club and Brothers Union recently met Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury and talked about it. Chowdhury assured them of their overdue payment.
In this regard, BCB director Jalal Younus yesterday said that the board will soon sit with clubs’ officials to clear the arrears of the DPL players’ payment.
“We have players’ payment issue in mind. Actually DPL players’ payment of some clubs remained unpaid yet,” said Jalal Younus.
“We will soon sit with club’s officials. Definitely it’s a big issue. We don’t want that any player remained unpaid,” Younus told The Independent.
“As ‘Players by Choice’ had been introduced under the cricket board, the responsibility lies on the board. Definitely we will see into the matter,” he added.
Jalal also informed that their board president personally talked with some clubs’ officials to clear the arrears of the players’ payment before the outset of the forthcoming Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.
The first class cricket league is scheduled to get underway on April 12.
