DSE crosses 5,700-point on higher transactions

The broader price index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) yesterday crossed the 5,700-point mark on the higher transactions of large-cap securities, reports BSS.
The border DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 47.96 points up at 5,739.33. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 18.34 points up at 1320.02 and 32.07 points up at 2,115.98.
The day's trade value at DSE increased to Tk 938.29 crore from Sunday's Tk 741.07 crore and the daily trade also rose to 23.18 crore shares from 20.06 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day's 329 securities, prices of 161 securities closed higher against 129 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Navana CNG, Provati Insurance, Regent Textile, Shepherd Industries and Lanka Bangla Finance. The major losing issues were Fareast Finance, Jute Spinners, Global Insurance, Pragati Insurance and Hakkani Pulp.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by City Bank, Beximco Pharma, IDLC and Square Pharma.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 165.27 points up at 17,794.51.
At CSE, issues traded 244 while 131 closed higher against 86 closed lower when 1.79 crore shares worth Tk 65.36 crore changed hands.
