RANGPUR: Officials and employees of 29 municipalities of eight districts of Rangpur division formed human chain in front of the divisional commissioner’s office in the city yesterday to press home their various demands, including their due salaries of 18 months.
The speakers said all the municipalities are the part of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. But the officials and employees of the municipalities are yet to receive their 18 months salaries. For this reason the officials and employees are passing very hard days. They also demanded sanctioning their salary and pension from government revenue fund.
Around 1, 000 oofficials and employees under the banner of Paurashavas Karmakarta-Karmachari Association submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister through Kazi Hasan Ahmed, Divisional Commissioner, Rangpur Division.
Shafiqul Islam Patwary Babu, president, and Habibur Rahman, secretary, Pourashavas Karmakarta-Karmachari Association, addressed the programme.
