BCC workers’ strike called off

Permanent and temporary employees of Barisal City Corporation on Sunday night called off their indefinite strike following a meeting with Barisal City Corporation (BCC) Mayor Ahsan Habib Kamal.

After the meeting the mayor announced before the journalists that, BCC authority will pay two months’ arrear salaries with five months provident fund among the temporary and permanent employees.
He also urged the employees to withdraw the strike for the sake of citizen service.
Dipak Lal Mridha, leader of the agitated workers said, after meeting with mayor and councilors, we called off our indefinite strike, as mayor acknowledged the justification of our demands and fulfilled most of those.
So over 1600 temporary workers and 541 permanent staffs will join their work place from Monday.
