The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday arrested two officials of Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner's office and a lawyer from Chittagong city and Cox's Bazar in a graft case, reports UNB.
ACC deputy director Syed Ahmad of its Chittagong Zila office arrested then surveyor of Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner's office Mohammad Fakhrul Islam (now surveyor of Chittagong Deputy Commissioner's office) from the port city's Chatteshayri road, ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told the correspondent.
Besides, ACC assistant director Ajay Kumar Saha arrested upper division clerk of Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner's office Abul Kasem Majumder and advocate Nur Mohammad Shikdar from Cox's Bazar.
On December 7, 2014, the national anti-graft agency filed a case against them with Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station for allegedly swindling out money from Matarbari power project (Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited).
According to the case statement, all the accused in collusion with each other swindled out about Tk 20 crore from the power generation company through 20 cheques, showing fake documents in realising compensation to 25 shrimp enclosures. They were also trying to plunder Tk 3.5 crore from the company through five cheques.
