Indian President Pranab Mukherjee has reportedly invited West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to join an official dinner to be held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on April 8 in honour of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reports UNB. Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to visit New Delhi on April 7-10, and both sides see the visit as very significant.
Though it is not still clear whether Mamata will attend the dinner, the invitation has stoked speculations as West Bengal is crucial to bilateral issues between Dhaka and New Delhi, being the bordering state with neighbouring Bangladesh, The Times of India reported on Friday. The Teesta water accord between India and Bangladesh is expected to reach its final stage during Hasina's visit, the report said.
