BJMC, Army win eight gold each

The 38th National Cycling Championship concluded yesterday at Bangabandu National Stadium in the capital with BJMC and Bangladesh Army won as many eight gold medals.
Though BJMC and Army won as many 21 medals and equally dominated to win gold but the former won nine silver medals to lead the medal table and the later won three silvers clinched the second position.
BJMC won eight gold medals, nine silver and four bronze medals, Bangladesh Army won eight gold medals, three silver and 10 bronze medals followed by Bangladesh Ansar won six gold, four silver and five bronze medals, Bangladesh Border Guard won one gold, four silver and two bronze medals.    
The last day in the national competition was the most piteous day for Farhana Sultana Shila of Bangladesh Army when she retired after her 22 years’ career while she won one gold on Thursday before the day to say good bye.   
In the last day also there was a huge competition between BJMC and Army while both the sides won two gold medals each.
However, in the last day of the competition six events took place when Mohammed Yasin won the gold for BJMC in 4000 meters in the men’s individual pursuit event with timing 6:28:46 seconds followed by Sree Ripon Kumar of Bangladesh Border Guard finishing with 6:32:35 seconds and Jewel Rana of BJMC won the bronze after finishing on 6:36:48 seconds.
In the 2000 women’s individual pursuit event Subarna Barman of Bangladesh Army won gold timing 3:42:70 seconds while Nishi Khatun of BJMC and Kobita Roy won silver and bronze respectively.
In the 15000 meters scratch race Mehdi Hassan Jewel of BJMC won gold while Hadi Alam of Bangladesh Ansar and his compatriot Hassan Ali won silver and bronze.
4000 meters scratch race of women’s gold medal went to Nabila Islam of Bangladesh Ansar. Sathi Biswas of Army and Fatema Khatun of same team won silver and bronze medal.
In the men’s 4000 meters team time trial event Bangladesh Border Guard won gold, Bangladesh Ansar won silver while Bangladesh Army won the bronze.
In the women’s 2000 meters team time trial Bangladesh Army won gold, BJMC won silver while Ansar won bronze.
