Police informant found dead
Our correspondent, Jessore

Police recovered the throat-slit body of a police informant from the Bhairab River at Jhumjhumpur Chander Mor in Jessore district town yesterday morning.
Locals spotted the body of Abdur Rahman alias Ruman, 21, a resident of Sitarampur Dakhshinpara area, in a sack in the river and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to
Jessore General Hospital for post-mortem examination, said A K M Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
Family sources said Ruman worked as an informant of police. He went out of the house on Thursday afternoon and they found his phone switched off after 10pm.
     Meanwhile, police recovered the body of an unidentified man from a bench of Jessore Railway Station on Thursday evening.
The body was sent to Jessore General Hospital for autopsy, said Idris Ali, sub inspector of Jessore GRP camp.
12 freedom fighters honoured
NARSINGDI: Jugantor Sajan Somabesh, a local voluntary organization, marking the month of Independence and National Day-2017 and 12 years of Sajan Somabesh accorded reception to the twelve freedom fighters and organized art competition, distribution of prizes and cultural function, reports BSS.
The reception was held at local Shilpakala Academy on Thursday evening with president of Jugantor Sajan Somabesh Asaduzzaman in the chair.
Cultural personality Bir Muktijoddha Syed Hasan Imam was attended the function as the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Shubash Chandra Biswas inaugurated the function.
The twelve freedom fighters are- Syed Hasan Imam, Ashraful Alam, Bulbul Mohlanbish, Afjal Hossain, Martyred Abdul Halim, Advocate Mohammad Delwar Hossain Khan, Amjad Hossain Bhuiyan, Mohammad Khalil Ullah Pathen, Alhaj Mohammad Abul Kashem, Motiur Rahman Bhuiyan, Mohammad Abu Taher and Balyath Hossain Bhuiyan.
Feature editor of Jugantor Rafiqul Hoque Dadu Bhai, organizer of Shadin Bangla Betar Kendra, Ashraful Alam, Member of the Jatiya Kabita Parishad Aslam Sani and organizer of Muktijoddha Bulbul Mohalanbish were also present as special guests.
Among others, advisor of Jugantor Sajan Shomabesh professor Nurjahan Begum, District Muktijoddha Commander Abdul Motaleb Pathen Principal of Abdul Kader Mullah City College Dr Moshiur Rahman Mirdha and Divisional Secretary of Sajan Somabesh Himal Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
Youth held with arms in Natore
NATORE: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a youth with arms and ammunitions from Pikerdol village in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
The arrested person was identified as Emran Hossain, 20, of the upazila.
Company Commander of RAB-5, Natore, Sheikh Anwar Hossain said, on secret information, a team of the elite forces conducted the drive in the area and arrested Emran with a revolver, a pistol, one magazine and six bullets.
A case was filed with Natore Thana in this connection.
