Call to end violence against children

RANGPUR: The present government has been implementing different initiatives to end physical violence in any form against children effectively for ensuring their complete well-being, reports BSS.
This view was expressed at the launching ceremony of a new campaign to end physical violence against children in Bangladesh at Pirganj Upazila Agriculture Office recently, said a press release.
World Vision Bangladesh (WVB), LAMB and Eco-Social Development Organisation jointly launched the campaign titled “It takes me to end physical violence against children” with assistance of National Human Rights Commission and Child Rights Advocacy Coalition.
Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kamal Kumar Ghosh attended the launching ceremony as the chief guest with manager of Pirganj Area Development Programme (ADP) of WVB Francis P Nath in the chair.
Upazila level government and NGO officials, teachers, students, members of the Shishu Forums from different educational institutions, guardians and representatives of the donor organisations attended the ceremony.
In his welcome speech, Francis P Nath said the government of Bangladesh has been implementing many initiatives for ensuring complete well-being and rights of children and already achieved quite remarkable success in this regard.
He lauded the National Human Rights Commission, WVB and Child Rights Advocacy Coalition for conducting the campaign to support the government initiatives to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The chief guest said the campaign would assist in achieving the intended target of ending abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence and torture against children in Bangladesh in near future.
