Khelaghar National Children’s Cultural Fest ends today

The three-day cultural festival for children and young artists titled ‘Khelaghar Jatiya Shishu-Kishore Sangskritik Utsab 2017’ (Khelaghar National Children’s Cultural Festival) will come to end today, with a prize distribution ceremony in the afternoon at the Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital. Today, on the last day of the festival, a competition on people’s song, folk dance and solo acting will be held from 9am. Later, prizes will be distributed among the winners of the competition. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq will distribute the prizes to the winners this evening at the same venue. Writer and educator Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and noted singer Mita Haq will also be present there as guests.
Khelaghar, a children’s organization, has organised the three-day festival featuring discussion, cultural show, cultural competition, and other activities.
Earlier on Wednesday, Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan inaugurated the festival at Shilpakala Academy where Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was present as the chief guest. Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Kuddus,  Khelaghar Central Committee Chairperson Panna Kaisar attended the inauguration as special guests.  The inauguration session was followed by a cultural show by the artistes of Khelaghar.
The programme on the second day featured competition on rhythmic poem, patriotic song, folk song, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, recitation and dance. Noted educationist Dr Serajul Islam Chowdhury attended a discussion meeting as chief guest while BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky was present as special guest. In the evening, the Khelaghar artistes from different districts performed song and dance.
