Illegal timbers seized in Ctg

CHITTAGONG: Chittagong North Forest Division (CNFD) in separate drives seized 500 Cubic feet (CFT) timbers, worth about Tk 10 lakh, from two separate trucks from the city and the district on Thursday night and early yesetrday. The forest personnel also seized the trucks bearing number Chatro Metro- Ta- 11-5403 and Chatro Metro-Da-11-1553, a CNFD press release said. Based on secret information, a special team of CNFD in assistance with armed forest guards conducted the drive in Karnaphuli bridge area under Bakalia thana around 4.00 am and seized 250 CFT timber.
Earlier the same team also recovered 250 CFT timbers from another truck from Narayanhat area under Fatichari upazila of the district at 11 pm last night.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of CNFD supervised the drives while other concerned high officials were present during the operation.
Two cases were filed with concerned police stations in this connection.
