8th Satyen Sen Gano Sangeet Utsab ends today

Three-day ‘Satyen Sen Gano Sangeet Utsab and National Gano Sangeet Competition’ will end today. 

Organised by Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi, the 8th edition of the festival is set to conclude today at the Shawkat Osman Auditorium of Public Library in the capital. Guest singers Purobi Mukhopadhyay and Amitav Mukhopadhyay from India will perform Gano Sangeet (people’s song) at the progrmme today at 6pm. 
Earlier on Tuesday, veteran singer of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Rathindranath Roy inaugurated the festival in the open field of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). Cultural personalities Syed Hasan Imam, noted Gano Sangeet singers from India Purobi Mukhopadhyay and Amitav Mukhopadhyay, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Kuddus, Gano Sangeet Samannay Parisad President Fakir Alamgir and Gano Sangeet singer Mukul Das, among others, were present at the opening ceremony. 
On the opening day, artistes of Udichi presented a lyrical drama titled ‘Amar Larai Sabai Oikataan’, which was compiled and directed by Sangeeta Imam.
For the first time, an album consisting of 11 songs of Satyen Sen, one of the prominent founders of Udichi, was released at the event. Veteran cultural personality Kamal Lohani and Golam Mohammad Idu unveiled the cover of the album. 
The winners of this year’s Gano Sangeet Competition, artistes of Bonhishikha, Wrishiz Shilpi Gosthi, Cinema Shahar, Dhrubatara presented Gano Sangeet, while folk singer Angshuman Roy and Farhad rendered solo numbers at the event of opening day. 
The second day of the programme featured an award ceremony, where the winners of the national-level Gano Sangeet competition were awarded. They also performed along with noted folk singers at the programme.
