Bangladesh Bank (BB) has lost properties worth about Tk 80 lakh in the recent fire incident but no important documents was damaged, says BB’s spokesman Subhankar Saha.
Speaking at a press conference at Bangladesh Bank conference room, he said they are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire incident but the investigative team found an electric kettle in the room where the incident took place.
He however hoped that the fire brigade investigative team may be able to reveal the cause of the fire.
The fire broke out at Foreign Exchange Policy Department on the 13th floor of Bangladesh Bank headquarters at Motijheel in the capital on March 23.
The BB spokesman the departmental investigative team headed by Ahmed Jamal, an executive director of the bank, handed over its report on Tuesday, suggested not to use electric appliance in the central bank.
