Students say no to early marriage in Chandpur

 About 25,000 students of 53 schools vowed to resist early marriage at a function in Matlab South upazila of Chandpur district on Tuesday. 
Matlab upazila administration and Matlab upazila parishad jointly organised the programme on the New Hostel ground in Matlab upazila town.
UNO of Matlab South upazila Md Shahidul Islam administered the oath to the students.
Before the oath-taking ceremony, Mayor Aolad Hossain Liton, Officer-in-Charge Md Kutubuddin, president of Upazila Krishak League Zainal Abedin Prodhan, Secondary Education Officer Md Abdur Rahim Khan, Matlab Press Cub President and General Secretary Golam Sarwar Selim and Shamol Kumar Das, among others, spoke  highlighting the adverse effects of early marriage, dangerous impacts of drug addiction and eve teasing in the families and society. 
Teachers, headmasters of 53 high schools, upazila officials, political leaders, newsmen were present on the occasion.

Four people to die for gang  rape in Laxmipur

A court in Laxmipur yesterday sentenced four people to death for raping a woman in Kamolnagar upazila of the district in 2014. Those who got death penalty are Sanaullah, Md Rahim, Md Harun and Abul Kashem. Another accused Anowar was acquitted by the court.
District and Sessions Judge Dr Abul Kashem Chowdhury passed the order. According to the prosecution, the victim was gang raped by the accused persons at her home at night on December 22 in 2014.
Local people recovered the victim unconscious and sent her to hospital. 
She came to life after five days.
Her husband Rafiq Ullah filled a case on December 28 against five people in this connection.
On May 2015, Kamolnagar Thana police submitted a charge-sheet to the court accusing five people.
Examining the witnesses and evidences, the Judge Dr Abul Kashem Chowdhury pronounced the verdict yesterday
