RANGPUR: State Minister for Social Welfare Nuruzzaman Ahmed, MP, has said nurturing of literary and cultural activities would reduce militancy to the zero level ultimately eliminating the menace from the society, reports BSS. The students should engage themselves with extracurricular activities like sports, physical exercise, culture and literature to become enlightened citizens side by side with sincerely devoting to their academic studies, he said.
The State Minsiter made these observations at a function arranged on inaugural day of the two-day ‘Divisional Annual Sports and Cultural Competitons-2017’ for residential students of the government Shishu Paribars here on Monday as the chief guest.
Earlier, he inaugurated the two-day annual sorts and cultural competitions by releasing balloons at a colourful ceremony held on the Rangpur Government Shishu Paribar (Boys) ground here.
Director of the Department of Social Services (DSS) Zulfiqar Haider, Acting Deputy Commissioner Sultana Pervin and Member of Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council China Chowdhury attended the function as special guests.
Deputy Director of the DSS for Rangpur Abdur Razzaque presided over the function.
The state minister said there will be no place in Bangladesh for the militants playing with Islam as part of the domestic-foreign conspiracies to obstruct the development process and destabilize the country.
“Islam is the religion of peace. Islam never supports militancy and terrorism and always works for establishing peace and ensuring welfare of the humanity,” he said.
Nruzzaman called upon the young generations for properly educating with patriotic zeal, nurturing rich Bengali literature and culture to revive the past glory and social values.
