Minor boy killed ‘by mother’
A two-month old boy was slaughtered allegedly by his mother at Digda village in Gazipur early Tuesday.
Family sources said Shahinur slaughtered his son Mihsan Sadit early in the morning when her husband Shariful Haque went out of the house for Fazr prayers.
Hearing scream of their daughter Maliha, the other members of the family went to the spot and found the baby boy’s slit-throat body, said Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Kapasia Police Station.
On information, police recovered the body and detained the parents for interrogation.
4 commit ‘suicide’ at Tongi
Four persons, including two women, allegedly committed suicide at different parts of Tongi, yesterday.
“Two women, Marjina Akter Ria, 35, and Sonia Akter, 20, and a rickshaw- puller, Mazharul Islam and an unidentified teenage boy allegedly committed suicide at Jhinu Market, Auchpara of Moktarbari, Rasulbag and Barobari areas,” Officer-in-Charge of Tongi Police Station Md Firoj Talukder told BSS.
Family feud, hardship and dissatisfaction were the reasons of their deaths, he added.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to the morgue of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College, Gazipur for autopsy.
2 arrested with liquor in Sylhet
Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 65 liters of liquor from Nidanpur in Beanibazar upazila on Monday.
Tipped off, police conducted a drive in the evening and arrested Nazrul Islam, 18, and Ainul Islam, 18, residents of Borolekha upazila, with the liquor, said Chandan Kumar Chakrabarty, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar Police Station.
They also seized a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying them. A case was filed.
BHB recruitment test Apr 1
The written test for recruitment of manpower against 60 posts under 17 categories with the Bangladesh Handloom Board (BHB) will be held on April 1 in the capital.
The examination will be held at six centres in the capital at 3.30pm, an officials release said in the capital yesterday.
Bangladesh Handloom Board published an advertisement to this effect on May 22, 2016.
Detailed information, including the list of eligible candidates for the written exams, will be available on the website www.bhb.gov.bd.
