Bangabandhu Aviation and Aerospace University starts academic activities soon
Bangabandhu Aviation and Aerospace University (BAAU) would start its academic activities soon with 10 departments under three faculties.
Officials on Monday informed at a meeting that was held on formulating law and syllabus and constructing infrastructures of the BAAU at the ministry office with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon in the chair, said a ministry release.
The departments would offer world class curriculum in under graduate and post graduate programmes. At the beginning, BAAU as part of education exchange programme would offer education exchange and credit transfer with Middlesex University and City University of London, Georgia University and Jacksonville University of USA and University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.
In the meeting, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar, Aviation and Tourism Secretary S M Ghulam Farooque, CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Ehsanul Gani Choudhury, Biman Bangaldesh Airlines Managing Director Mosaddique Ahmed and representatives from Ministry of Education, UGC and other stakeholders were present.
Air Commodore Yazdani made a power point presentation at the meeting.

DU, Western Sydney University sign MoU
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the University of Dhaka (DU) and the Western Sydney University, Australia on Monday at the VC’s office of Dhaka University.
Vice-chancellor of DU Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique and Vice-chancellor of Western Sydney University Prof Barney Glover singed the MoU on behalf of their respective university. Dean of the Faculty of Social Science of DU Prof. Farid Uddin Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Prof. of the School of Law of Western Sydney University Daud Hassan were present, among others, on this occasion.
According to the MoU, the University of Dhaka and the Western Sydney University, Australia will work together for development of academic and research activities.
The two universities will also exchange information, faculty members and students. Besides, the two universities will organise conferences, seminars, short courses and workshops on ocean and coastal governance.

Discussion on Independence Day held at GB
Gono Bishwabidyalay (GB) organised a discussion at academic building yesterday auditorium to mark the Independence Day to show respect to the war martyrs. 
Prof Laila Parveen Banu, Vice-Chancellor (Current) of Gono Bishwabidyalay, presided over the programme. Gono Bishwabidyalay Registrar Md Delower Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences Prof Md Ashraf Ul Karim Khan; Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Prof M Iqbal Zuberi; Exam Controller Mir Murtoza Ali  addressed among others at the discussion. A number of students performed songs, dance and recited poems at the cultural programme. On Sunday, the teachers, students and employees of the university led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Laila Parveen Banu and Registrar Md Delower Hossain paid tribute to the liberation war martyrs by placing wreaths at  National  Memorial, Savar. 

Independence Day celebrated at ITHS 
International Turkish Hope School (ITHS) observed the Genocide Day and celebrated the Independence Day with a colorful programmes on Monday, says a press release. 
The programme was honoured by the presence of 9 valiant freedom fighters and among them; seven were the gallantry award holders. The following were the guests of honor in the said programme: Mashrurul Haq Siddique, Bir Uttom Shahjahan Siddique, Bir Bikrom, Dr Abul Kashem Mahbubul Alam, Bir Protik, Nurul Islam, Bir Bikrom, Bir Protik, Zahurul Haq Munshi, Bir Protik (Bar), Md Mahbub Elahi Ranju, Bir Protik, Abdus Sobhan, Bir Protik, and Ghulam Mustafa, Freedom Fighter, Maj Qamrul Hassan Bhuiyan (Retd.), Freedom Fighter. The programme was concluded with the crest presentation to the freedom fighters. On behalf of the School Management, Bedrettin Suata, Chairman of Standing Committee and Yavuz Koca, Principal of ITHS, have handed over some token of respects including crests to the guests.
