Police arrested a person on charge of burgling a shop of a mobile phone set dealer in Pereira Road area of the city on Wednesday afternoon.
The arrested was identified as Nazrul Islam Shikdar.
Police recovering three bank cheques from him started operation to recover the stolen goods, said Shakhawat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station.
Police sources said Nazrul entered inside Business Relation Point, a mobile phone set and accessories dealer and agent, in Pereira Road area early Wednesday and looted goods worth
Tk25 lakh, including mobile phone sets, memory cards, SIMs, accessories and cash Tk 7.5 lakh.
The staff of the business enterprise on Wednesday morning after becoming aware of the looting informed police and owner of the shop.
Police collecting video footage from CCTV camera installed inside the shop supplied its copy to business enterprises and started surveillance. When Nazrul after coming to the area tried to collect cash from a nearby bank and the motorcycle left during stealing, police with the help of local people arrested him.
