Juba League leader’s house comes under attack
Satkhira: Miscreants attacked the house of a local Juba League leader at Kuchpukur village in Sadar upazila on Friday night, reports UNB.
Firoz Hossain Mollah, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said a gang of unidentified criminals attacked the house of Russel Kabir, organising secretary of Agardari union unit Juba Leauge, at night. The miscreants blasted 4/5 crude bombs and opened three rounds of bullet.
However, no one was injured in this incident. A case was filed in this connection.
Man crushed under tractor
Chuadanga: A man was crushed under a brick-laden tractor on Dharshana-Mujibnagar road in Damurhuda upazila yesterday afternoon, reports UNB.
Abu Zihad Fakhrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Police Station, said that the tractor hit Tulu Miah, 53, a resident of Pirpurkulla village, while he was crossing the road, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
Benapole woman held with yaba

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged female drug peddler along with 200 pieces yaba at Kagoj Pukur Rail Gate in Benapole on Friday.
Tipped off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested Mahfuza Begum, 38, wife of Julfiker Ali of Namajgram in Benapole municipality area around 11.00am along with the yaba pills, said senior assistant superintendent of police Khodadad Hossain of RAB-6. A case was filed in this connection.
Genocide Day observed
GAIBANDHA: The Genocide Day-2017 was observed in the district yesterday for the first time in remembrance of the brutality carried out by Pakistani Army on the unarmed Bengalis on the black night of March 25 in 1971, reports BSS.
Marking the day, district administration chalked out the elaborate programmes at the directives of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
In the morning around 10am, whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini, deputy commissioner Abdus Samad and superintendent of police M Masrukur Rahman Khaled placed floral wreath on the martyred tombstone located at Old DC office area of the town here in phases.
