3 sued over Lalbagh gang-rape
The victim herself on Wednesday night filed a case with Lalbagh Police Station the capital in connection with the gang-rape of her allegedly by three friends of her boyfriend when she went to meet him at Kamrangirchor in the city Tuesday night. Talking to The Independent, Paritosh Chandra, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of the police station, also the investigation of the case said, the schoolgirl herself filed the case against the house owners son Shaikat Islam Rana, also a businessman at Gawsia Market in the city along with his two associates for the incident. The arrested Shoikat was produced before a Dhaka court yesterday seeking seven days remand for grilling him in police custody, he added. Deputy Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police ( Lalbagh Division) Mofiz Uddin Ahmed said, We conducted a search in the adjacent areas of Gabtoli where the victim was staying. But local people alleged that the girl was leading very undisciplined life and had several boyfriends. She even sometimes passes night outside the mess, the DC claimed, adding, However, we are taking legal actions against the culprits. Actually, the girl has some problem from her side also, the DC added. Talking to The Independent, Sujon Majhi, brother of the victim, said her sister was currently staying at the One Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
