Paceman Kamrul Islam Rabbi shot into the national team by showcasing better bowling performance at domestic circuit. He was the highest wicket taker (31) in the last season of Dhaka Premier League.
Last year he made his Test debut against England at home yard. Therefore, he played so far five Test matches against the English side alongside New Zealand and India. In Sri Lanka series, he was also in Test squad but could not get chance to play any of the two matches due to the team’s combination.
Although he feels sorry for this, he is happy for Bangladesh’s victory in its centenary Test that he witnessed from the dressing room. On Friday, he returned home from Sri Lanka. The 25-year-old pacer faced media and shared his experience what he gathered from Sri Lanka.
The way the team has been performing since last two years, Rabbi thinks that they will win the next two series-ODI and T20- if they could give their ninety percent efforts.
“Actually the team we are now we could give a big fight against any team. Besides the players, our team management also works hard for the team’s cause,” said Kamrul Islam.
“By winning Test against England, we got back our confidence level that we could also win Test against big teams. After going to Sri Lanka, we had a confidence that we will perform better and win games. We though could not do well in the first match due to collapse in some areas. We were confident of doing well in second Test,” Rabbi told media.
“After winning the Test match, the confident has been grown inside the team that we could win match. We have some quality players’ likes of Shakib bhai, Tamim bhai, Mushfiq bhai and Riyad bhai. Sabbir and Mustafiz are supporting them in right vein. In terms of batting, bowling, we are not less qualified than other teams. If we could give our 90 percent we could then win the series,” he added.
When asked about the milestone victory in 100th Test, the pacer said that “Like the people of the country we had an expectation to do better result in out centenary Test. We could have won the historical match. As a team wise, we all have performed well.”
“It would be helpful for the team to move ahead. The victory will give impetus and boost our confidence for the ODI and T20 series. Hopefully we will play our better brand of cricket.”
In DPL, Rabbi is yet to sign any team but he will finalise the contact within the next two days. He wants to replicate his last year’s performance in the league.
“Last year in DPL, I was the highest wicket taker. I also performed well in BPL. I stepped into the national team by playing better in one day. I always enjoy playing one day. It again comes. Hopefully I will also well perform this time,” he signed off.
