Genocide Day observed at BAU

MYMENSINGH: Teachers and students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) yesterday observed the ‘Genocide Day’ in remembrance of the brutality carried out by Pakistani Army on the unarmed Bengalis on the black night of March 25 in 1971.
On the day, the university authority at around 7am brought out a mourning rally from the Baishakhi Chhattar premises that ended at the graveyard on the university. 
Thereafter the Vice-Chancellor of BAU Prof Md Ali Akbar placed floral wreaths at the graveyard and it was followed by the pro-VC, teachers, students, officials and other organisations. Mentioning the genocide as world’s worst brutality the Vice-Chancellor urged the government to take initiative to observe the day as International Genocide Day.
Later, a discussion on genocide day was also held at the conference room of the Teacher Student Centre (TSC) on the campus.

‘Pharma Festival 2017’ held at NSU 
North South University (NSU) on Thursday hosted Pharma Fest 2017, a daylong festival that celebrates pharmacy education, and brings together students, notable academics, and professionals from renowned pharmaceutical companies and other healthcare providers. 
NSU Pharmaceutical Club organised this annual event titled ‘Pharma Fest’ each year since 2010. The theme of the 7th season of this grand event was ‘Caring Beyond Prescription’ to shed light on the widespread role of pharmacists in the healthcare sector. The curtain on Pharma Fest 2017 was revealed at 10am through an inspirational inaugural speech from the Chief Guest Major General Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Director General, Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA), and special guest Prof Atiqul Islam, vice-chancellor, NSU. The session was chaired by Prof GU Ahsan, pro-vice chancellor (Designate) and Dean, School of Health and Life Sciences. 
A quiz competition called ‘Pharma Olympiad’ with 40 participants from 18 different universities and Scientific Poster Presentation by students were concomitantly arranged. Inauguration of the department’s annual publication also took place in the morning.
