Genocide Day observed in missions abroad

Bangladesh High Commissions in New Delhi and Islamabad observed Genocide Day yesterday commemorating Pakistani military's brutal crackdown on the Bengalis on the black night of 25th March in 1971 killing at least 50,000 people and burning down hundreds of homes just in a night, reports BSS.
Marking the day, in New Delhi, a panel discussion underling the need for national and international campaign for making March 25 as the Genocide Day was also held, followed by screening of a documentary on the atrocities the Pakistan army had committed during Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
Moderated by Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, deputy high commissioner, the discussion was participated by two senior Indian journalists Saumya Bandyopadhyay and Pallab Bhattacharya, according to a message received in the capital yetserday.
“The dark night of March 25 had witnessed the highest number of deaths of civilians in one night at the hand of a ruthless military (Pakistan),” said Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali in a speech highlighting the significance and background of the day.
Another reports adds: Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad has organised a discussion at the Chancery premises yesterday marking the ‘Genocide Day’ in remembrance of the brutality carried out by Pakistani Army on the unarmed Bengalis on the black night of March 25, 1971, reports BSS. 
Members of expatriate Bangladesh community, officials and staff of the High Commission took part in the discussion, according to a message received here today. 
At the beginning, one minute silence was observed to show respect to the memories of the martyrs of the war of liberation in 1971, particularly the victims of 25 March. 
Later, messages released on this occasion by the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh were read out.
