Juba League leader killed
Pabna: A local Juba League leader was stabbed to death over previous enmity at Rooppur in Ishwardi upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Police said Shahjahan, vice-president of Rooppur union unit Jubo Leage and a sand trader had long standing enmity with Nabin of Pakshi over business related issues.
As a sequel to the enmity, Nabin swooped on Shahjahan and stabbed him indiscriminately while he was returning home around 12:30 am, leaving him critically injured. Later he was taken to Ishwardi General Hospital. He died on way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital early in the morning.
28 BNP men held in Jessore

Detectives arrested 28 leaders and activists of BNP along with 15 crude bombs from Navaran Bazar in Sharsha upazila on Thursday evening.
On secret information, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police raided the office of upazila BNP secretary Hasan Jahir while party men were holding an anti-government meeting and arrested them, said Yamul Haque , officer-in-charge Jessore DB police. The arrestees include Hasan Jahir, upazila unit vice-presidents Sirajul Islam and Hazrat Master, upazila Jubo Dal president Masudur Rahman Milon, and presidents and secretaries of nine union units of BNP in Sarsha upazila.
Two fishermen kidnapped
Satkhira: Forest robbers kidnapped two fishermen from Baikari canal in the Sundarbans under Satkhira range early yesterday, reports UNB.
The kidnapped fishermen are Foni Mandal, son
of Tara Mandal of Bhotkhali village of Shyamnagar
upazila and Kalam Sardar, son of Abdul Sardar of Munshiganj union.
Karim Molla, one of the fishermen who escaped the kidnapping, said, they went inside the Sundarbans with the permission of Kaikhali forest office where a gang of forest robbers picked up two of them and demanded Tk 1 lakh for their release.
