MSC desperate to regain past glory in football

Sports Reporter

Mohammedan Sporting Club in their bid to regain old glory is taking preparation to form a strong squad for the upcoming season assembling some young and experienced booters.
Mohammedan, one of the country’s most popular teams, who has had a historically dominant run over the last 50 years – claiming number of domestic league titles and federation cups, recently failed to live up to their reputations as they have no major success in last few seasons.
Specially, the traditional Black and White saw the worst most result in the previous season in the Bangladesh Premier Football League when they ended the ninth edition of the league on 10th position out of 12 teams, in fact they just narrowly escaped from the relegation fight.
However, this season Mohammedan
have ambitious plans to be a title contender for all domestic tournaments  as the
team’s long time manager Amirul Islam Babu informed this correspondent that they will try to bounce back strongly.
Babu, who has been with the team for about two decades, when talking to this reporter on Thursday on the club premises, said, “We want to be in all parts of the country with our brand, with our values and with what the Mohammedan is all about.”
“We are working heart and soul and have already shaped the team as a strong side this season.”
“You know, we could manage only the runners-up trophy of the Professional Football League in its first three editions since it was introduced here and were third two times and the last season’s result was very much embarrassing for us. This time we formed the team eyeing to the championship.”
“So, this time we want to get rid of the long bad patch and taking all the necessary steps to bounce back. Hopefully this year we will do better result.”
Replying to a query Babu said, “We have confirmed some of our last season’s players (local), who did well and three top performers among the all foreign booters.”
