1st Dhaka-London strategic dialogue on Mar 28

Bangladesh and the United Kingdom (UK) will hold the first Strategic Dialogue on March 28 to widen the bilateral relation and take it to the next level, reports UNB. Permanent Under Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Sir Simon McDonald is likely to be here on Monday to attend the dialogue, a senior official at the Foreign Ministry told UNB.
He is responsible for advising the British Foreign Secretary and ministerial team on foreign policy and for managing the FCO.
Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque will lead home side at the meeting.
Sustainable development goals, airport security, Rohingya issue, economic cooperation, Brexit impacts, security cooperation, combating militancy and visa issues are likely to be discussed at the meeting, Foreign Ministry sources said.
Both sides agreed to hold such a dialogue when UK Minister for Asia and the Pacific Alok Sharma MP met Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali here earlier this month.
Minister Sharma expressed optimism that the Strategic Dialogue will play an important role in further strengthening and widening Bangladesh-UK ties and take it to the next level.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the existing cordial relations between the two countries.
