Customs Intelligence officials detained a passenger along with 10 gold bars, weighing 1kg, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital yesterday, reports UNB. Director General (DG) of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Moinul Khan said Mohiuddin Miah, 42, hailing from Chandina of Comilla, arrived at the airport by a flight of US-Bangla Airlines around 7am Acting on a tip-off, the Customs Intelligence officials challenged Mohiuddin when he was crossing the airport green channel and recovered the gold bullion kept hidden under his feet in a unique way, he said. During primary interrogation, Mohiuddin, worker of a plastic factory in Malaysia, revealed that he was carrying the gold consignment in exchange for Tk 50,000. He travelled four times from home and abroad in the last two years, Moinul said.
