People now can buy gold and gold ornaments at lower prices as the local jewellers adjusted downward the prices with the falling trend on the international market, reports BSS.
Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS), the umbrella organisation of the country’s gold and gold ornaments traders, adjusted the price with effect from yesterday.
The adjustment of the gold prices was made at the local market following a big price fall on the global gold market last week. The gold was traded at five years low at $1092.40 an ounce at the international market on Monday. The prices at the international market, however, bounced back above $1,100 an ounce yesterday when the local gold traders lowered their prices.
As per the decision of the BAJUS, gold would be cheaper by Tk 1500 per bhori (11.664 grams) from yesterday when the price per bhori for 22 carat gold would be Tk 42,981; 21 carat 80,882; 18 carat 34,233 and traditional (sanatan) Tk 22, 861.
