Online VAT registration begins

The Online VAT registration has formally begun from yesterday with the hope that the people of the country will now pay Value Added Tax (VAT) online for the development of the country.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Chairman of parliamentary standing committee on finance ministry Dr Abdur Razzak jointly inaugurated online VAT registration at National Board Revenue building at Agargaon in the capital yesterday.
After inaugurating the VAT online registration system Muhith said, From now all VAT will be submitted through online with out hassle free.
National Board of Revenue Chairman Nojibur Rahman presided over the ceremony.
NBR started the online VAT registration on March 15 informally. Businesses will be able to take online VAT registration up to July 1.
Earlier, the NBR gave 425 businesses under Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) scope to be registered online as it gets almost 80 per cent of its total VAT-revenue from these 425 enterprises
According to the NBR officials till date a total of 315 businesses organisations have registered under the Large Taxpayer Unit in a special arrangement before the informal beginning of VAT registration on March 15, while 110 more enterprises did their online VAT registration in the last one week.
