Applications invited to study in India
The government of India has invited applications from eligible Bangladeshi nationals for the admission to BE and BPharmacy courses in India under a self-financing scheme for the academic year 2017-2018. The last date for submission of completed application is April 30. A candidate must have minimum 60 per cent aggregate marks with at least 60 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics separately (in case of BE), said the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
IU gets new assistant proctor
KUSHTIA: MM Nasimuzzaman, Assistant Professor of the Management department of Islamic University (IU), was made the university's new assistant proctor on Wednesday.
He replaced Prof M Mamun Al-Rashid of the Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering department. IU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari appointed Nasimuzzaman to the post for the next one year, IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif said.
RU set to celebrate Independence Day
Rajshahi: Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have chalked out day-long programmes to celebrate Independence Day and National Day on March 26 with due respect.
RU public relation officer, associate Professor Mosiur Rahman confirmed it through a press release yesterday.
Marking the day, the authority and several socio-cultural organisations of the university will hold programmes, including hoisting national flags atop the administrative buildings, dormitories on the campus, parade of Bangladesh National Cadet Core (BNCC) & Rover Scout, friendly cricket, football, volley ball, basketball tournament and special prayer for the departed soul of the martyred. The martyred collection archive (Shaheed Smreti Sangrahasala) of the university will remain opened from 7am to 5pm for the public exhibition on the day.
Ctg board ready to hold the HSC exams from April 2
Chittagong Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (CEB) completed all preparations to hold the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations from April 2 next.
A total of 83,193 students including 41,932 male and 41,261 female will sit for the examination under CEB through the 98 centers from 238 colleges this year.
A total of 17,308 students from science group, 31,595 students from humanities group and 34,287 from business administration are scheduled to participate in the exams. CBE officials said they have completed almost all kinds of preparations to hold the public examinations in a free and fair manner.
Over 50 vigilance teams consisting of teachers and magistrates have been formed to check any sorts of unfair means or irregularities. Mahbub Hasan, Controller of Chittagong Education Board told BSS that the authority will consider all possible options to maintain trend of peaceful examination.
